75 years young image

This oil sketch on on linen was painted to celebrate Mr and Mrs Barbe turning 75 this year. A unique memento that will last for the generations and centuries to come. To capture Mr and Mrs Barbe is to celebrated their ever young spirit and beings. A mother of 4 and grandmother of 8, and a retired naval commander with the same clan happy to live as young and in the moment as they ever have. This is them just being themselves in ...

a nude commission image

I recently presented this nude to my client. It was an absolute treat to finally share this piece with her. She was happy and so was I when I saw her taking in this painting. Reminding me why I love painting so much. I asked her if she would be open to sharing her experience. This is what she sent the next day. "When I first began the process with Donat of creating my nude, I was a bit uncertain and afraid of what would come of this. I didn't know what to expect, but was intrigued. I had no idea how amazing the end result would be. When I first saw the finished painting I was stunned. It took my ...

Will I am image

Here is a charcoal sketch and a oil ...

A literary commission image

Passionate about early flemish painting, Lee Keele wanted a still life. Lee is literary agent. The painting itself captures her love of early flemish art. The fruit symbolizes life. The peeled fruit is Lee enjoying life. The bird is her passion to want to see and explore everything life has to offer. The eggs are the safety she retreats to when life gets ...

Tennessee Commission image

This June I spend my first time in Tennessee. I was commissioned by the lovely Ingrams family to paint a recreation of a Remington statue they owned called "crossfire". Crossfire is also the name of Preston Ingram's company. The painting was to celebrate the crossfire theme of Preston's career life. I suggested to place Preston as the featured rider on his own horse "Rooster" making it a much more personal representation of  the crossfire we were depicting. It's scale of 43x54 inches illustrated the grit and details missed in the online small depiction of the painting. the most rewarding part of this painting was getting to know the loving warmth of the Ingrams. I miss ...
